WHDB is a quest info database that integrates into your quest log, provides location and drop info for monsters and item objectives and quest comments.

WHDB can plot notes with objective locations into the map if you are using one of these addons: [OPTIONAL]
* Cartographer
* Metamap
* MapNotes.
Also it try to plot comments coordinates if found.

From version 2.0, WHDB can automatically plot relevant objectives from all quest on map. (read changelog for more info)

The quest database provides comments, locations and drop info from Wowhead using the comments database from qData project (also in cursegaming) and two more databases created by me that contains npc locations and item drops.

Also, WHDB can integrate with [OPTIONAL]:
* Extended Quest Log 3 (EQL3)
* QuestGuru
I will add support for other addons (that not use the default quest log frame) in future versions. Note that this addon is mainly designed for the original blizzard's quest log.

WHDB provides too some commandline commands to search info for quests you don't have.

Memory usage was improved from version 2.0, with quest level filtering the amount of memory used to store all the databases is about 10~11mb, without it the full database use ~18mb. This can be improved by tunning the level filtering parameters but the default values work very well. (for more info read the changelog)

Use /whdb help to get info about the slash commands available.

Note: Cartographer, Metamap or MapNotes are OPTIONAL. EQL3 and QuestGuru are supported but NOT NEEDED AT ALL. qData is included in the package.

Note2: WHDB stands for WowHeadDataBase.

Donations would be appreciated, thank you!

    how do i set so that the addon wont keep showing quests lower then 30?
    if i use the command /whdb lowfilter the memory usage is the same (around 17 mb)

    I don't see the slash command to turn off all the new stuff you added like objective plotting etc. I just want the comments from WH in the quest log, not all the extra stuff.

    To toggle the autoplot function use /whdb auto.

    I just downloaded the latest version of WHDB and now, everytime I accept a new quest, or do part of the quest I get this error.

    Interface\AddOns\WHDB\WHDB.lua:411: 'for' limit must be a number

    Does anyone know how to fix this?? Its really annoying.

  • June 18, 2008, 06:29AM (2 months ago)

    Uhm, i tested this accepting new quests, abandoning and re-accepting, and it works fine here. The error you get is because the WoW api function GetNumQuestLeaderBoards() is returning a null value or something strange, i think this error can come from another addon that change the behaviour of that function.

    Solution? Well, search what is changing that function and disable it or simply disable the autoplot feature by typing /whdb autoplot.

    If you find what addon is making that problem, tell us please.

    Version 2.0 released!

    Well, i found some time to update this and all its databases. I added some new features, there is the changelog:

    * Updated to current WoW version.
    * Added AutoPlot feature:
    This feautre is enabled by default and will plot quests on map (if available) automatically. It will plot only incompleted objectives or turn in npcs when the quest is complete. (comments are always plotted while the quest is incomplete)

    * Added QuestLevelFilter feature:
    Initially the addon will delete all comments for quests that requiere 10 levels over your current level and 20 levels under your level, this will decrease memory used by ~45%. That margins are configurable trought /whdb lowfilter and /whdb highfilter and you can disable this feautre with /whdb levelfilter.

    * Added required level for quests at quest title.
    * Updated Comments database with the last one from the project 'qComment (Weekly)'.
    * Updated npcData with the lastest data on WoWHead.
    * Updated itemData with the lastest data on WoWHead.
    * Fixed some bugs that i don't remember now, but nothing special.

    Enjoy!

    I find this to be one of the most helpful addons available. Will an update be release to make this compatible with the latest patch and to also update content?

  • June 1, 2008, 02:07AM (2 months, 2 weeks ago)

    I just downloaded it, because it said it was updated today...and its still the same version as before. Still TOC 2.3, no updated info. When's this really going to be updated?

  • May 31, 2008, 03:37PM (2 months, 3 weeks ago)

    How do I get WHDB to show me all the information given in the screenshots? I have cartographer, mapnotes, and WHDB installed correctly, but no map notes appear when I get a new quest. Isn't it supposed to show a note showing where to go with descriptions and such? Why am I seeing none of this?

    this add on is awesome. I was just wondering if you're still busy with other add ons cause it would be sooooo awesome if this one was updated. Thanks for making it.

    This Addon is awesome, beats thottbot anytime.
    Have a question though read somewhere that it was possible to get all the mining spots on the map by writing something like: /whdb item mithril veins
    Is it possible?
    I've tried it but never got it to work (since i'm a noob i pressed enter in game and wrote it, dunno if i should write it somwhere else)
    Thx for this great feature

    I stopped using the feature where it marks the map. It was WAY too messy, inaccurate, and random. However, I do use it to read quest comments without having to alt-tab back to windows. Would be nice to see the comments cleaned up a bit as it uses insane amounts of RAM.
