About Mappy
Mappy is a square minimap addon and features:
- Easy to use. No setup required, just install and it works
- Automatic arrangement of addon buttons (NOTE: If you prefer to have complete control over your addon button positions then this addon is NOT for you. If you're like me and like things that "just work" then you'll enjoy this feature)
- Easy to resize. The map stays anchored in the corner so you can resize at-will without having to re-position each time.
- "Combat Alpha" so you can make the map fade while you're in combat
- Built-in coordinate display
- Scroll-wheel zooming of the minimap
- Optionally hide the time of day indicator, world map button and zoom in/out buttons
To move the minimap just drag it, to adjust the size or transparancy just right-click on the minimap
2.0b4 Changes
- Removed player arrow scaling
- Added check for TimeManager frames to be present before attempting to arrange them
- Added option to hide North label
- Made menu/sliders wider for finer control over the Size setting
- Fixed errors when attempting to use the settings menu in WotLK
- Finished implementing support for disabling button stacking
- Settings menu will show the correct current settings when it's opened
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Sastopher saidNice addon, but I'm having conflicts getting it to work with MinimapButtonFrame (MBF) or similar addons. MBF can't find buttons linked to your map frame. I don't mind fixing the compatibility myself, but I was hoping you might be able to point me towards the line in code where Mappy is grabbing the buttons from the map frame and adding it to its own.

Izeck saidCan it be possible to make the menu not pop open when right clicking the minimap? I wouldn't mind having to type /mappy config whenever I needed to, but it is a bit bothersome that a window pops up if I accidentally right click my minimap.

frightking saidA minor thing but with AddOns such as QuestHelper that have cursors on the map that can be hovered over for info, they do not work with Mappy. IS there a possibilty to fix this or is there a way already?

Mystik saidAny chance we can get a version that keeps the buffs in the default location, I'm not quite sure what happened, I installed it and moved it to the bottom center of my screen and my buffs stayed in the default location. I logged out for a bit and when I came back they were attached to mappy. Is this also possible for the "broken armor" doll as well?
Btw great addon nice work
*Edit*
Occasionally the buffs also appear in the center of the screen. For now I've just disabled showing default buffs in xperl

Mundocani saidI got carried away and ended up spending an hour or so working on Mappy and finished the ability to turn off auto-stacking as well as fixing the other bugs reported here lately.
I'll cancel the submission for 2.0b3 and put in 2.0b4 instead
2.0b4 Changes
- Removed player arrow scaling
- Added check for TimeManager frames to be present before attempting to arrange them
- Added option to hide North label
- Made menu/sliders wider for finer control over the Size setting
- Fixed errors when attempting to use the settings menu in WotLK
- Finished implementing support for disabling button stacking

Some tiny bug: when disabling the north label, the option remains unactivated, although the north label disappears.

Mundocani saidSorry for the delay in checking up on Mappy. Here's 2.0b3 which is the version I've been running for a couple of weeks now, hopefully it'll clear up some of the problems being reported here.
I'll try to soon go through the comments and fix any other problems reported. I've been busy with other addons and real-life and Mappy always gets shafted when it comes to priorities, sorry :(
2.0b3 Changes
- The new mini-clock is positioned correctly
- The Blizzard feedback button on WotLK is positioned correctly
- Probably other fixes too, but I'm really lazy about documenting Mappy changes, sorry about that :)

kimokos saidI got an error saying "Interface\AddOns\Mappy\Mappy.lua:968: attempt to call method 'SetAutoArrangeButtons' (a nil value)" when I try to 'Auto-arrange buttons'...
Can anyone help because all the UI buttons are jumbled everywhere and it's ridiculous.

Stouter saidFIX: for issue with icons not working, in version 2.0b2
Temporary fix, bandaid kindof, but does not hinder/disable anything. The product will continue to work fine.
Edit:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Mappy\Mappy.lua
Edit the file Mappy.lua kk?
Lines 633, 634, and 635 comment them out to stop the errors
Before:
TimeManagerClockButton:??
After:
-- TimeManagerClockButton:??
Thats it
Start wow and you should receive no more errors, and your icons should line up.

Mundocani saidFound the problem -- apparently WoW doesn't create the clock frame until/unless you have it set to be shown and Mappy wasn't accounting for that. 2.0b4 should fix it.

rlp122 saidTo fix the PlayerArrow error. Navigate to your Mappy folder in World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\Mappy. Open Mappy.lua in notepad and search for Self.PlayerArrow. You should only find one instance. Place a -- and a space before the word Self.PlayerArrow.
Restart Wow. This should fix the problem until a patch comes out. This has been tested by two seperate players and appears to fix the scrambled buttons problem.
If this does not fix the problem, try typing /console reloadui and pressing enter to reload the User Interface.
