About Quartz

Quartz is a modular approach to a casting bar addon. An overview of (hopefully most of) the modules:

*Player

The core of Quartz is lightweight implementation of a standard casting bar, with configurable size, text and icon positioning, and colors.

*Target/Focus

Implementation of target and focus casting bars in similar fashion to the player cast bar.

*Buffs

Display of target and focus buffs and debuffs as duration bars using the new API introduced in patch 2.1.

*Flight

Hooks into FlightMap or InFlight to display the current flight progress on your casting bar.

*Global Cooldown

Displays a tiny spark-bar to show your Global Cooldown near the cast bar. Helpful for those who'd rather not squint at their action bars to see when they can cast again.

*Interrupt

Changes the color and text of your casting bar to help show that your cast has been interrupted (and show who interrupted it).

*Latency

Displays the amount of time spent between cast send and start events, in the form of a bar at the end of your casting bar, with optional text that displays the actual duration of the lag. This helps in canceling casts when they will not actually be interrupted, especially for users with consistently high pings.

*Mirror

Shows the 'basic' timers such as breath and feign death, as well as some 'odd' ones such as party invite time, resurrect timeout, and arena game start, and a framework for injecting custom timers into the bars.

*Range

Recolors the casting bar when your cast target moves out of range mid-cast.

*Swing

Displays a swing timer for your melee weapon as well as hunter autoshot.

*Timer

Allows for creating custom timers displayed on the mirror bars.

*Tradeskill Merge

Merges multiple casts of the same tradeskill item into one big cast bar.

Use /quartz to bring up the configuration menu.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

On the bottom i can move my cast bar but my targets debuffs are affixiated to the topright corner of the bar, is there anyway i can just move the buffs not the cast bar?

Is there a way to differentiate between characters through your WTF? Currently however I set Quartz up on a single character mirrors to all the rest. But many of my characters use different UIs based on their roles...

I understand if it is not possible, but should it be possible, I would much like to know how.

I can't figure out how to move the bars at all. This is my favourite cast bar addon and it would be great to get a simple shift-click drag option or something along those lines. Cheers.

To move the bars, open the Quartz window by writing /quartz in the chatbox.

Then, get into the category that you wanna move.
Player for your castbar, Target for the target'castbar, etc.

Then unmark the option LOCK.

This will make the castbar appear on your window. Move it wherever you like to.

Then mark the option LOCK.

This will make the castbar disappear from your window.

Done ^^

Thanks for making this mod.
I have a feature request below:

You can Check "Depletion" on some of the bars, why don't all the bars have this, in perticular, why can't I have my Swing bar start full, then get smaller.

I love this addon, but i would love it even more if they updated the Dual Wield Swing timer because i play a rogue.....so yea, plz fix it so that Swing Timer works with Dual Wield

I'm having a problem moving the different bars on the screen. The way my UI is currently setup the default position for quartz sits right in the middle of my actionbars. I messed around with the addon but it seems as though some parts of the quartz addon r stuck together. Things like the castbar,swingtimer, and buff/debuff bar seem to be stuck together. Just looking for someway to move the bars with more ease. Thanks.

Using the latest version of quartz it is only letting me pick between a couple fonts but it wont let me pick the adventure font. it's not even an option. before i updated quartz it let me pick adventure but now it wont with the updated version. why? ...

My SwingTimer only show on my warrior when i use Heroic Strike and then it goes away again : ( Is it possible to have it show all melee swings?

This is a pretty nice addon all around,
though i would like to see a 5 second time on the castbar for those of us who try to stick to the 5 second rule
