  • About KillsToLevel
  •

Creates a dragable counter showing the estimated number of kills required to reach the next level, or, if you have Titan Panel, display the estimate there.

Usage:

When the counter isn't locked, you may position it by dragging it with the left mouse button.

Type /k2l to open the configuration window.

  • Display/Hidden If hidden, the counter won't show up.
  • Display/Locked If locked, you'll be unable to drag the counter around.
  • Display/Text The text to display on the counter. '%s' is replaced by the remaining kills.
  • Display/Scale Make the counter bigger or smaller.
  • Display/Speed Make the counter change faster or slower when the displayed number changes.
  • Colour/... Choose the colour for the relevant piece of text.
  • Halflife/... Drag the slider to the left to only consider the most recent kills, or to the right to act as an average over a large period of time.
  • Fallback/... When you haven't killed any monsters, assume the monsters you're going to kill are these levels compared to the average level of your group. Drag the slider to the left for few of these monsters, or to the right for lots of these monsters.
  • Close Close the window. Any changes you haven't applied will be lost.
  • Apply Apply your changes to the counter.

TODO:

  • Verify it works properly in raids.

Known Bugs:

  • Sliders on the configuration window are possessed by demons.

Hacking:

If anyone wants to use this for their own purposes, (make a plugin for FuBar, hint, hint) the useful function for this is:

   KillsToLevelFrame:RegisterCallback(MY_FUNCTION, MY_OBJECT)

'MY_OBJECT' can be nil, in which case 'MY_FUNCTION' will be invoked as a normal function. When the kill count estimate changes, this function will be called with the new value.

Other useful functions are:

-- Get the average experience expected from monsters.
-- Includes group bonuses, doesn't include rest bonuses.
  KillsToLevelFrame:AverageExperience()
-- Get the number of kills needed to reach some amount of
-- experience, taking the players rest into account.
-- Returns the number of kills to the next level, by default.
  KillsToLevelFrame:KillsNeeded(XP_PER_KILL, TARGET_EXPERIENCE)

Does KillsToLevel depend on TitanPanel to run? Because I personally hate TitanPanel because we don't need it at all, since the WoW default panel is perfectly fine the way it is... -.- If KillsToLevel does NEED TitanPanel to run, then can you please change it so that KillsToLevel works on almost any type of experience bar?

P.S. I posted this several other places, but what is the name of the program used to create AddOns from scratch?

why doesn't this mod have the rep tracking functionality anymore? Ktl used to allow you to monitor rep to level as well, which was great because it told you how many more kills you needed to reach the next level of rep with a faction (exalted, revered, etc) and it was also great for figuring out how many rep items you needed to collect/AH....where did this ability go? Can it be brought back? Please...

This mod is neat, but it is built into MobInfo2 in the tooltip.

I get an error in the Add-Ons screen in game that says Titan Panel [KillstoLevel] - Dependency Missing. What does this mean and how can I fix it? Any help is appreciated.

It probably means you don't have Titan Panel, in which case, don't worry about it. Just disable it or delete the TitanKillsToLevel folder.

Yeah, certain AddOns require other AddOns to run. For example, say that "KillsToLevel" AddOn only showed it's info on the "TitanBar". Then if you didn't have "TitanBar", how could "KillsToLevel" work, since it would not know where to put it's info? Dependency missing means that the AddOn it's dependent of is either not enabled, or not downloaded, thus "KillsToLevel"s dependency (TitanBar) is missing. ;D

I love this mod. Just wish it wasn't above my charactor. But works out all right drives me to level faster.

You should be able to drag it wherever you want it.

I'm not quite sure, but this might be possible if you download an AddOn that can move action bars.

If I wanted to support an algorithm designed with the memory and speed restrictions of 15 year old hardware, slowing down the progression to bigger and better things, well, I'd use a zip file. But then, if I really wanted to conform to the majority, I'd also stop using Linux, start eating meat, and own a car and drive to Walmart so I can buy stuff I don't need produced by child labor half way across the world. Or I can just do what I think is best, ignore what you and everyone else thinks, and you can either agree or back away slowly from the crazy person.

Hooray for you using Linux and all, but it's not a good impression to have Linux users using formats that aren't commonly supported by all platforms. Portability works both ways, my friend, and if you don't like things being portable you shouldn't be using Linux to begin with.

Moreover, you -should- be using a format that -is- supported by all distributions natively. I seem to remember 7z only just got introduced into mainstream distributions of Linux, so there are probably a fair few who don't yet support it.

Also, being a non-conformist isn't about not eating meat and driving around in a car and using Linux. It's about choosing things that you want to do REGARDLESS of what other people think, not BECAUSE they think the opposite. Just because public consensus is that it is unsafe to jump off tall buildings, doesn't mean you should go out and jump off a tall building. Do you see the logic? You're almost conforming by doing the opposite of what is expected...

Not having a go, just thought you might appreciate some food for thought. :)

You can do whatever you want. Unfortunately, not everyone will easily install (or want to install) a program (most likely will end up being shareware), for something they will use once. You can use 7z at will, but when distributing to this kind of broader 'audience', you could be helpful and use zip. Don't be the one trying to change people's diets, just cause they're not your cup of tea.

the download gives me a "TitanKillsToLevel.7z" file..... WTF? change it to a zip file to be useable by all please.

    And/or FuBar =D

  • Sept. 27, 2007, 07:39AM (10 months, 4 weeks ago)

this would be much better suited for a titan bar module than a windowed addon

    You're probably right.
